In the style of Neenah Paper's "Punc't Project," posters for punctuation, I chose to create a poster for the ampersand, also known as the "And Sign (&)." I had to research the ampersand, including its origin and its usage, and create a poster using only black, white, and the pantone color 179 C. For my poster, I drew from the ampersand's use of connecting two clauses by utilizing and iconic combination: Black & White.
We chose different words and had to create a poster using only the letters in the word and the typeface, Futura. The poster had to show the quality and meaning of the word by manipulating the letterforms. For Expand, I wanted it to have the feeling of the words expanding off the page by physically moving the letters off the page, and also by giving a 3-dimensional appearance.
We chose different words and had to create a poster using only the letters in the word and the typeface, Futura. The poster had to show the quality and meaning of the word by manipulating the letterforms. For Evacuate, I wanted the letters to appear as if they were evacuating a scary situation. I made this background black to make it seem more frightening and more claustrophobic, giving a sense of urgency to the evacuation of the letters.
